Observed Defects & Design Flaws
March 2021 : Took Delivery from LazyDays RV (the claimed to be largest RV dealer on earth), near Tampa, Florida.
Hired a PROFESSIONAL RV inspection company ($ 400+) to conduct a full inspection prior to signing paperwork.
Despite this and checking over the rig completely (we thought) the evening of delivery (stayed overnight on campus), these are the issues that have surfaced in the first 24 hours of use.
1) Fantastic vent fan doesn't raise or lower well, it requires dozens of short taps on the controller (remote app or panel mount) to get it to move in incremental small bits.
2) Quite significant water leak at fresh water (pressurized city water inlet), from faulty connector inside coach. Service will be necessary.
3) Wingard unit functions well as TV antenna but has ZERO function in the WiFi extender or Cell hot spot modes, doesn't broadcast an SSID despite repeated and exhaustive troubleshooting, including systemic resetting and power cycling. May have power issue with coach wiring to unit, unable to verify without voltmeter.
4) Sewer hose containers with outside access port is worthless. After buying three separate types of small, compact sewer connector hoses the size of the tube is way too small to store ANYTHING. and, it makes a 30 degree turn inside the tube, rendering it even more worthless.
5) The coach house batteries are NOT holding a charge. After driving (& solar) ALL day, or using shore power all day, the batteries last less than 2-3 hours with basic lighting & fridge use, then die.
6) The AC unit is EXTREMELY LOUD and not a good choice, other makers take care to consider customer satisfaction when specifying products and this AC unit is virtually worthless due to it's extreme noise levels.
Just as an aside:
As expected, the Thor build quality is subpar, with cabinetry that is barely stapled together in slip-shot fashion, with extremely low-grade woods and materials, printed paper veneers and extremely cheap (think lower grade and cheaper than Ikea, Walmart crude furniture).
I expected Thor to produce a low-grade product, but they outdid themselves with this build, parts, screws and pieces were just left where worker's dropped them inside cabinets and drawers and you can see where screws were put in the wrong place and then they just rescrewed back in a neighboring hole when they assembled things. The cheapest grade vinyl flooring money can buy is unprofessionally spot glued down, and they couldn't even be bothered to add a 50 cent piece of finishing trim on the edges (so it peels up on the ends), not to mention the built in entry pedestal is such low grade acrylic that a nearly brand new unit shows like a 50 year old piece of yellowed junk with sun damage (on a relatively NEW unit). Thor should be ashamed of themselves! I know Covid, blah blah, I know this is not their highest price point product and I know they want to keep weight down, costs down and aesthetics up, but MAN, Thor should be mortified at this quality.
